Why Business Owners in Gwinnett County Bring Their Returns Here
A tax return is the one document the IRS reads about you every year. When it is prepared well, it is quiet. When it is prepared poorly, it turns into a notice eighteen months later, and that notice is where most of our tax resolution clients first meet us.
Dynamic Tax & Financial Services prepares returns for individuals and business owners in Snellville, Lawrenceville, Loganville, Grayson, Lilburn, and across Gwinnett County. The firm is led by Chiquita Harmon, an Enrolled Agent and Certified Tax Resolution Consultant with eighteen years in practice. She has spent a career fixing returns that were filed wrong. That is the lens every return here is prepared through.
How Tax Preparation Works Here
We start with your records, not a questionnaire. Prior year returns, income documents, bookkeeping if you have it, and the IRS account transcript. The transcript matters because it shows what has already been reported to the IRS under your Social Security number or EIN. A return that does not match the transcript is a return that draws a letter.
We ask about the year before we fill in the forms. Did you start a business, buy or sell property, add a side income, take money out of a retirement account, or move states? Each of those changes what belongs on the return and what deductions are available. Ten minutes of questions prevents an amended return later.
We prepare, review, and walk you through it. You see the return before it goes out. You learn what moved the number and why. If something looks off to you, it gets answered before filing, not after.
We file electronically and keep the records. Federal and state returns are e-filed, acknowledgments are kept, and copies of everything stay on file for when a lender, a notice, or a future return needs them.
Business Returns Need a Business Preparer
A sole proprietor's Schedule C, an S corporation's 1120-S, and a partnership's 1065 are three different documents with three different sets of rules, and the mistakes on each one are different too.
Reasonable compensation on an S corporation that was set too low. Guaranteed payments on a partnership that were never recorded. A single-member LLC that elected S status years ago and has been filing the wrong form ever since. Estimated payments that were made but never credited to the right account. Each of these shows up as an IRS balance eventually, and each one is cheaper to catch at preparation than at collection.
For business owners, tax preparation and tax planning are not separate services. The return tells us what happened. The planning conversation that follows it is where next year's bill gets smaller.
Behind on Filing? Start Here
A return that was never filed is the most expensive return there is. The IRS can prepare one for you using only the income reported to them, with no deductions and no credits, and then begin collecting on that number. People are often shocked at how much lower the real figure is once the actual return is prepared.
We file prior-year and delinquent returns regularly. There is no judgment in this office about how many years it has been. The first question is simply which years are open, and the IRS account transcript answers that in a day.
Questions We Hear About Tax Preparation
What should I bring to the first appointment? Last year's return, every income document you received (W-2, 1099, K-1, 1098), and a summary of business income and expenses if you own a business. If records are incomplete, bring what you have. Part of the job is knowing what can be reconstructed.
Do you prepare returns for clients outside Georgia? Yes. Federal returns are the same in every state, and the firm prepares returns for clients in all 50 states, including multi-state filings for people who moved or businesses that operate in more than one state. Most clients are here in Gwinnett County, and we work with out-of-state clients by secure upload and video call.
What happens if the IRS questions a return you prepared? As an Enrolled Agent, Chiquita can represent you before the IRS directly, without you having to appear. That is a credential only enrolled agents, CPAs, and attorneys hold, and it means the person who prepared the return is the same person who can defend it.
I filed myself and I think I made a mistake. Can that be fixed? Yes. Amended returns can generally be filed within three years of the original due date. If the mistake works in your favor, that is a refund you are owed. If it works against you, correcting it yourself costs far less than waiting for the IRS to find it.
Get the Return Right the First Time
If you have a return due, a year that never got filed, or a return you are not sure was done correctly, bring the documents in. We will tell you what is needed, what it will cost, and when it will be done.
Dynamic Tax & Financial Services prepares individual and business tax returns from its office in Snellville, Georgia, serving Gwinnett County and clients in all 50 states. We Make Business Personal.
